Dunn County Snowmobile Association OUTHOUSE RACES Saturday - February 2, 2008 Racing begins at 12:30pm |
|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--- ( DCSA Winter Fun Daze / Outhouse Challenge) ---
WHAT
ARE OUTHOUSE RACES?
Homemade Outhouses - made of wood, cardboard, plastic, or what ever you can imagine. There are three people to a team.
Outhouses are secured on a set of skis and are pushed by 2 team members, while one team member ‘sits’ inside.
Outhouses are equipped with a seat with at least one (1) hole, and a Roll of Toilet Paper.
The race course is a two lane track on packed snow (or on ice), with two (2) teams racing each other over a length of 120 feet (40 yards).
This event is as exciting as ‘Drag Racing’ if you use your imagination.
Outhouses can be very simple, or they can be as elaborate as anyone wants them to be.
RACES:
Race teams consist of 3 people. 2 team members ‘PUSH’ the outhouse, while one ‘Sits’ inside.
The front (doorway) of the Outhouse will be used for Starting Line alignment and to determine the winner at the Finish line – NOT the front of the Ski’s or Runners.
The track will be two lanes on packed snow (or on ice if the snow pack is insufficient).
Start to Finish is approx. 120 feet (40 yards).
Crossing the centerline will result in disqualification of that team for that particular race.
Double elimination will be used to determine the winner. Every race team will have a minimum of two races.
The ‘Sitter’ must be sitting on the seat when the outhouse crosses the finish line, and is NOT allowed to participate in the ‘propelling; process in any way.
Doors must be propped open or removed during the race, so the ‘sitter’ is visible.
The ‘Handicap Rule’ (see below) may be a part of each race.
GENERAL
/ TEAM RULES:
Outhouses must have a seat with at least one (1) hole (any representation of a typical ‘Outhouse Hole’), a roll of toilet paper, and we encourage all outhouses to have a Name (Names must in good taste). Teams can dress to represent a ‘Theme’ if desired.
Outhouses must be human ‘Push’ powered. The
sitter is not allowed to participate in the ‘propelling’ process in any way and
must remain seated over the hole during the entire race.
A team shall consist of three (3) people. This
includes two ‘pushers’ and one ‘sitter’. The ‘sitter’ must ride inside
sitting on the hole, with the door propped open or removed.
Each team member is required to sign a waiver barring the Dunn County Snowmobile Association from responsibility for any injuries incurred during this event.
Helmets are recommended for each team member.
Footwear traction is NOT allowed for the pushers. NO Add-on or Built-In traction to footware is allowed.
All team members must be 18 years of age or older.
Team members, as listed at registration, must remain the same throughout the competition, unless a change is requested by a team member and authorized by an event official prior to the race.
Teams Must be prepared to move to the staging and starting lines when prompted.
Registration fee is NOT refundable to any race team who is not prepared to race, or is disqualified for any reason based on event rules.
Judging for ‘Most Creative Outhouse’ will take place (via spectator vote), with the winning team receiving a trophy.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze toilet seat trophies will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
CONSTRUCTION/
SPECIFICATIONS RULES:
Outhouses must have 4 sides, a roof, a doorway in one wall, a seat with at least one (1) hole (any representation of a typical ‘Outhouse Hole’) and a roll of toilet paper. Doors must be propped open or removed for the race.
Outhouses must be a minimum of nine (9) square feet (3’x 3’) at its base, a minimum height of five (5) feet from the ground to the highest point of the roof, and a maximum overall width not to exceed six (6) feet (including grasping and/or pushing devices). There is no Maximum Length, Height, or Weight limit. (Remember – Maximum width limit is six (6) feet including pushing devices).
Outhouses must be secured to a set of ski’s or runners for
snow or ice racing (no wheels).
Any device may be used for grasping/pushing, but must be
secured solid to the outhouse. The devices must not exceed the six (6)
foot maximum width requirement and can be used for ‘Pushing’ only.
Outhouses may be built of any material, but must be
structurally sound enough to withstand the race.
Glass is NOT allowed for any part of the construction.
A grasping device for the ‘sitter’ is permitted.
Each outhouse is encouraged to have a ‘Name’. The
name is to be displayed on both the right and left side of the outhouse.
Displaying the name on the front and back is also allowed. Names
Must Be in Good Taste. The name can represent a Theme if
desired. Sponsor names may be applied anywhere on the outside of the
outhouse.

CLASSES: (just one – the Out House
Class)
**
HANDICAP RULE **
The ‘Handicap Rule’ will consist of off-setting the starting line positions between the two racing teams, allowing each an equal opportunity for a win. Distances may vary depending on the circumstances and will be determined on a race to race basis.
The ‘Handicap Rule’ MAY be implemented for ‘Powder-Puff’ (all girls teams) or ‘Seniors’ (any old guys or gals, racing younger guys or gals).
The ‘Handicap Rule’ may be a part of each race to help equalize the competition and to intensify the fun of the race, as determined per race.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVENT
/ SCHEDULE:
All outhouses and teams must be checking in by 11:30am.
Inspection of Outhouses – Teams – Themes – Names - will begin at approximately 11:30am. (Changing of any of these after inspection will result in disqualification at race time).
Races will begin at approx. 12:30pm (shortly after noon).
ALL Registered Race Teams may be asked to line up in their ‘Race Order’ by 12:00pm for a Pre-Race Parade. This will be a ‘Static Parade’ (this is where the spectators walk around the ‘Floats’(outhouses and teams) , rather than the ‘floats’ moving past the spectators).
